The studio

A room in Los Angeles where scent gets designed.

We teach the science and the art of scent — from the first single note you ever put under your nose, to a finished formula you could build a brand on.

Every class starts at the bench, with the raw materials open in front of you. Beginners are welcome and so are makers: nobody leaves with someone else’s recipe.

What a class looks like

Three hours, and you leave with a formula.

  1. 01

    Smell

    Open more than 50 essential and fragrance oils, one at a time, and learn to tell one family from another.

  2. 02

    Understand

    Fragrance notes, structure and evaporation — and what actually survives in wax, in alcohol, on skin or on a reed.

  3. 03

    Blend

    Mix, adjust, mix again. Write the proportions down until the formula is the scent you actually meant.

  4. 04

    Make

    Pour, bottle and finish your own pieces — and carry them home the same day, with your formula.
